OUR VISION

As the space industry develops commercially its economic impact is bound to be beneficial to all nations, including those that are industrially underdeveloped. Our vision is to continue making the world a smaller place by using the latest telecommunications solutions.

BACKGROUND

VSAT is a Very Small Aperture Terminal and refers to receive/transmit terminals installed at dispersed sites connecting to a central hub via satellite using small diameter antenna dishes (0.6 to 3.8 meter). Traditionally, the satellite is a radio relay station that receives, amplifies and redirects analog and digital signals contained within a carrier frequency. These signals contain data, voice, and video communications. VSAT systems can be configured for bi-directional or receive-only operation. In bi-directional operation, the dish both sends (uplinks) and receives (downlinks) the information for use in LANs.
Telecommunications is the world’s biggest machine. The telecommunications industry is strung together by complex networks, telephones, mobile phones and internet-linked PCs, the global system touches nearly all of us. It allows us to speak, share thoughts and do business with nearly anyone, regardless of where in the world they might be. Hence we as Netsat Africa Solutions Limited (NASL) continue delivering these telecoms expertise throughout this region.
In the field of communication and satellite communication in particular, the use of space has allowed the transformation of earth into a truly global neighbourhood. Television pictures and radio for an entire country can be handled by only one or two satellites. The two fastest-growing and most widely used instruments of communication – mobile telephones and the internet – rely on systems of geostationary satellites orbiting the earth to provide the quick and cheap transfer of their information from sender to recipient. Mutual communication on the opposite side of the earth is now as easy as if they lived next door, and economical.

Increasingly, businesses today are moving their network communications infrastructure away from closed-architecture, proprietary protocols, applications and devices to Internet Protocol (IP) platforms that leverage the user-friendly, familiar interface of browser-based applications and the Internet to communicate business-critical information.

Some of the reasons for this paradigm shift are: browser-based interfaces are compatible across multiple platforms; they feature unlimited scalability, easy deployment and simplified maintenance; and, they help reduce software development and training costs, since less time is spent on the client/server interface and teaching employees to use it. For many of these same reasons – enterprise-wide consistency, scalability, ease of deployment and lower costs – a growing number leading companies, when selecting a network technology platform to power their new IP infrastructure, they by making Netsat a preferred chose when these clients are choosing a satellite-based technology organization.

The reason why Netsat Africa Solutions Limited (NASL) is implementing and advancing the satellite technology is because connectivity is made possible even at those locations, which cannot be connected through conventional media like copper cable, optical fibre, radio, microwave and any other wire-line / wireless links. VSAT is a versatile solution, not only as a reliable primary link for non-feasible areas, but also as a very successful alternate technology for back link. It also offers plethora of telecom services viz. data transfer, internet, voice, video etc.

THE NETSAT AFRICA SOLUTIONS

NASL (NetSat Africa Solutions) recognises that the most significant advantage of using satellite links that we provide is a guaranteed coverage at any location on Earth. A single satellite in the geostationary orbit can cover distances as large as whole oceans or continents.

This particular wide area coverage makes high-speed Internet access from remote locations quick and easy. It is also possible to connect many remote locations spread across large distances through a secure private link.

Due to the curvature of the Earth, uneven terrain, oceans and many natural and man-made obstacles, it is difficult to set up a direct communication path over long distances such as the ones provided by other Vsat technology alternatives. For a handful of businesses such as Non-governmental Organisations communicating with their remote sites, it is nearly impossible to directly communicate with headquarters – hundreds of miles away. For such requirements, satellite is the most effective option.

NASL(NetSat Africa Solutions) guarantees reliability of our services as the satellite network consists of only a satellite, teleport, Network Operations Centre and the VSAT terminal, the number of opportunities for network outages are significantly reduced. Compared to terrestrial networks, there is much less opportunity for network outages. With terrestrial services (cable or DSL), network outages can occur at any point along the infrastructure.

NASL (NetSat Africa Solutions) assures our clients that a complete satellite network can work independently off terrestrial infrastructure and maintain connectivity as long as the equipment has a medium of power.
